I FORGOT THE ARROWS

I used to watch power rangers a lot when I was a kid. It had dinosaurs which was the initial draw, but action and a fight between good and evil kept me interested. Shortly after the first movie I found other interests, but things like that stick with you... well, me at least.

This came out of drawing various female poses for practice. I was trying to get out of my comfort zone by drawing poses that look awkward. With this sketch in particular, I liked the way her upper body was elegant and didn't really match her lower body. I liked it so much I decided to scan and paint it. I tried out some new tools that use pen pressure to vary opacity rather than brush size. The results look nice and I will probably be trying that method more often. The outline is supposed to look rough and untidy but still professional; I'm not sure I pulled the balance off quite right, but it does give a nice effect of depth.

I did intend to paint an arrow in her hand, but as I started I thought it would be funnier to leave it out because she had forgot it.
